Tford
Looking at a few 49 88 sedanettes lately and can seem to figure out emblems! Was anything standard on all or did the model type indicate what emblems showed up on it. Seen what looks to be an 88 Futuramic with only the "futuramic" by the door panel low behind the wheel well, seen a "rocket 88" arrow on the left rear trunk and a few just "88"'s on the front fenders....any rhyme/reason or "correctness" to what emblems show up? The 55er
All 1949 88's had the rocket trunk emblem and the wide diecast Futuramic plate on the bottom of the front fenders. Some cars came from the factory with 88 numerals on the bottom of the front fenders and others have the numerals on the top of the rear quarters back by the gas door. I believe both side numeric locations are correct.
Tford
So if the trunk is missing the emblem, shouldn’t there be mounting holes somewhere in the trunk lid? Looking at a very original sedanette (one family) that is missing the trunk emblem....
