trini
Please help. When was the synchronise gear box first used in dodge brothers and is it possible to install it in a 1928 Dodge Brothers ?
zeke01
My 1933 Dodge doesn’t have synchronized gearing. The freewheeling eliminates the need for using the clutch (when engaged). My 1935 DeSoto airflow did have a synchronized transmission in 2nd and 3rd gear. So maybe 1934-1935? Zeke
vermontboy
I don't think anything will be a bolt on installation - why do you need a synchro trans ?? Hint - none will have synchros on low gear. If shifting into low is the problem keep in mind that if there is any forward movement whatsoever that Dodge 6 will walk right up to speed in 2nd.... no need to shift into low unless you come to a complete stop or have to stop on hill. trini
I still crash the crash box sometimes and was toying with the idea if there was a bolt on synchro to work with. On second thought I will learn how to use the crash box. Thank you all.
JFranklin
The biggest trouble in shifting a non synchromesh transmission is trying to shift to early or late. You will get the hang of it after driving it for a while. Edited November 29, 2019 by JFranklin (see edit history)
