JZRIV
Anyone know what the differences are between the 66/67 and 69 gas tank? Possibly the sending unit opening since the 69 is electric pump? Possibly the filler neck tube due to different bumper arrangement? Have a guy looking for a tank for his 69 and I have nice 66/67 tank but not sure it will work for him. NC1968Riviera
Jason, If all else fails, there are 69-70 repro tanks being sold on Ebay right now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/69-70-Riviera-Gas-Fuel-Tank-1969-1970-NEW/401833060803 Good luck. JZRIV
Thanks Mike. Assuming original tanks had a rigid filler neck? Or maybe not? ebay tank
NC1968Riviera
From the seller of the 69-70 Riviera gas tank: "it is my understanding that the 68 has a longer one piece neck, we are getting a neck so this can be used with the earlier Rivieras and should have them by the end of the week"
NC1968Riviera
From Best Offer Counts on Ebay: 66 67 68 69 70 Buick Riviera Gas Tank Fuel Tank w/ neck 1966 1967 1968 1969 1970 US $350.00 https://www.ebay.com/itm/66-67-68-69-70-Buick-Riviera-Gas-Tank-Fuel-Tank-w-neck-1966-1967-1968-1969-1970/233485320487?hash=item365ccf4127:g:lkIAAOSwjzleOTXJ
NC1968Riviera
I purchased one of the repro 66-68 gas tanks from Best Offer Counts last December. They no longer include the filler neck and rubber connector hose/clamps (at least as of last December). 66 67 68 Buick Riviera Gas Tank & Sending Unit & Straps 1966 1967 1968 Fuel Tank – BestOfferCounts I also purchased a new set of tank hanger straps and insulator strips. I had also been lucky in finding a NOS 1968 Riviera fuel level sending unit on Ebay a couple of years ago. I also found a better condition trunk gas vent tube to replace my deteriorating one on the AZ. I ended up buying a 2" gas resistant rubber hose and clamp kit on Amazon. I had my repair guy cut off the filler neck on the old tank and reuse it on the new tank. He also had to cut down the rubber connector hose a couple of inches. The new tank, straps, insulator strips and vent tube were installed recently. The NOS sending unit appears to be working correctly. I wish I had asked the shop to take some pictures of the old tank and the new one as it was being installed. 😞 FYI, there was NO build sheet found on top of the original gas tank. I am not suggesting this was a location to find one but someone will inevitably ask. FYI part 2: I have heard these repro gas tank fuel sending unit mounting hole is too small to accommodate the 69-70 in-tank fuel pump/sending unit. I cannot verify this.
