65 Riviera Frank Posted November 13, 2019 Share Posted November 13, 2019 I just jumped on here. I’ve had my Riviera for 20 years and it’s been down for the last 6. I just dropped the money for everything i need to get it up and going again ( for the third time ). And I’m at the point where I’m deciding where to spend the limited funds I have. I’ve decided on (among other things? A front disc brake conversion. I’m wondering if any of you have a good solution to the rear wheel conversion. I assume it’s going to be a matter of finding a later model Caddie or Olds and robbing the brakes and such. RivNut Posted December 29, 2019 Share Posted December 29, 2019 Unless you drive in such a manner to cause your brakes to fade - like racing down Mullholland Drive hour after hour, disk brakes have no advantage over the drums that are currently on the car in getting it to stop. Most of these1st generation Rivieras have 100,000 miles on them and they're still running the drum brakes. As a safety measure, lots of owners are changing their single reservoir master cylinders for dual reservoir master cylinders. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
