JohnO
Hello, I have a high decibel reading (an exhaust leak) at the back and front of my intake manifold. I did some checking and supposedly there is a plug underneath the manifold that is in the passage for exhaust. Can somebody tell me if it is more to the front or back and what side. I would like to put a dab of JB Weld over it to correct the noise. Thanks.
Pete Phillips
I'm familiar with a plug right in the bottom center of the exhaust manifold (can't recall which years) that tends to rust out and needs replacing. Think it might have been on a '56 322 engine, but not sure--it was many years ago that I had that problem. Maybe someone else can chime in. It's not that hard to completely remove an intake manifold from a Buick V8. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338
RivNut
There is a plug the size of a freeze plug in the very center of the bottom of the manifold. They will develop holes from corrosion and leak producing the sound you're hearing. Russ Martin sells them through his website. centervilleautorepair.com/intake. Different years take different sizes.
