chris piazza
I'm curious about what lubricant to use in my freshly refreshed steering box. Also, why are there 2 zerks right next to each other on it? Is 1 a vent? Thanks!
Gary_Ash
Best is grade 00 grease with consistency like peanut butter - not too thick, not too thin, self leveling, won’t leak out. Available at Tractor Supply Co. for $5.29 a quart. Other places have same grease at 3-4 times the price. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/super-s-cotton-picker-spindle-grease-
Spinneyhill
My 1939 Studebaker steering box has a grease nipple on it but there is no ball in it - that is the vent! Clearly meant to be used with an "oil gun" not a grease gun.
