Grantique
I have purchased a Mack's wide pickup bed for my late 1931 Ford Model A. I received the wood sub rails with the bed and they are pre-drilled for mounting. My problem is the thickness of the wood is 2 1/16 inches. The lower parts of the sides is bend up to create a space for the wood to slide in but the space between the supporting cross rails to this lip is 1 3/4 inches. I have measured the space between the two sides to be 46 inches. I placed the wood rails on the frame and measured the outer distance between the two wood rails to be 46 inches. So, do I need to cut a 1/4 notch out of the wood rails to allow them to slide into the lip of the bed sides? Any pictures or info would be appreciated.
