What Are the Proper Headlight Buckets for a 1926 Dodge?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I was wondering what style headlight buckets were used on my 1926 Dodge Brothers Deluxe Sedan. It is the 6 volt system, if that matters.

I ask ask because I have “bullet” style headlights (for lack of a better description) and I have been told that the correct headlights are the type with the flat back.

Here is a photo of what is on there now.

The correct ones are the flat back ones.  I will get you pictures of them tomorrow - for lack of a better description they look like large cooking pots.

That was quick! Thank you. I’ve seen that style before, online. I know the car would look so much better with them on there.

I guess the next question is to identify what you already have, they look to be in excellent condition and you might end up with a little gas money when you are done!

I found this documentation and it has me second guessing what we’ve established already:

So would these be for the 1926 after all?

It sure looks like documentation outweighs common knowledge.  I would certainly keep that "Now Drive the CAR" booklet in the car at all times.

It took me twenty years (1959-1979) to be able to prove to the "experts" that Series 6-30B Pontiac Custom Sedans came with varnished wheels from the factory.  Now I never leave home without documentation.

Are your cowl lamps bullet shaped, too?

Yes, in fact they are. Makes sense

Why do I get the feeling that when it comes to correct parts on cars the answer is usually d) All of the Above...but learned something new

Another truth is that ANY AND ALL experts can be wrong occasionally, usually caused by misinformation.

To quote Mark Twain..“What gets us into trouble is not what we don't know. It's what we know for sure that just ain't so.”

Always keep your factory documentation handy, even then someone will tell you it is wrong.
