canucktruk
Hello Im trying to get some information on the Bosch Magneto on my antique car. Its a Bosch DU4, also has the numbers 739565 on it and says Mod 5. The fellow who is going to work on it asked me to find the point gap on it (im not sure if thats correct ) and he said to look it up in a Dykes book. Can anyone here supply me with this information? Thanks in advance Gary
cahartley
Every Bosch magneto I have seen calls for a 1/64" gap or .015" The DU4 is an especially good magneto too....... 👍
DavidAU
This is from the instructions for a Bosch ZF4 which is very close to a DU4 The magneto is driven by a transverse shaft and is connected by a Simms coupling. This coupling has 19 teeth on one side and 20 teeth on the other, which gives a vernier adjustment so that a very minute adjustment may be made by altering the position of the fibre centre piece. Make sure from time to time that the contact breaker gap is between 15/1000 in. and 18/1000 in.

Graham Man
That is a great looking automobile, love brass just out of my price range. My guess is a 1910 Pratt?
