WPC Club Benefits

Recommended Posts

I have only been a WPC member (#11749) since last February and have some questions before I decide to renew or not. I joined because I am working on a '37 Chrysler Royal C-16 and wanted accurate information to help with an accurate restoration.

I think that the "WPC NEWS" is a nice publication and the free ads to members is a nice benefit. For me, however, it has some shortcomings. First, there have been very few articles that pertain to my car or cars of similar years. I purchased a back issue dedicated to the '37 Chrysler but most of that focused on the more luxurious models. Second, there is no "Tech Column" where questions can be asked and answered. I realize that the magazine is probably published by volunteers and the features I desire are asking too much of a volunteer staff.

Realizing this, I put Ian Smale in contact with Peter Gariepy and that resulted in this WPC Section of the AACA Forum. Even with this tool available, the exchange of in depth knowledge has been very limited.

So here are my questions to you veteran WPC members... Has 2002 just been a year where most articles have covered newer cars and articles about older cars could become more common in the near future? Has the focus of the club shifted to cars of the 50's, 60's and 70's? Why do you think participation on the WPC Forum has been so limited? Lack of exposure to the general membership? Most WPC members aren't online?

I'm sure I'm not the only member searching for information and I'm also sure there are WPC members out there with many answers. How do we put the two in touch?

Hi Ron,

As President of the WPC Club I am always interested in the comments of members. On your specific questions please send them to me an I will attempt to get the answers for you. As you know we do have a long list of technical advisors to answer questions on specific models. Not all models are covered as the products of Chrysler cover a very broad spectrum.

Only about 25%-30% list email addresses on our Roster. I suspect more will get more into the internet as time goes by. The focus of the club has always been to cover everything Chrysler Corp has ever built. So with the way the magazine works featuring a different car every month it can take a while before we may do you car again. There are features in the works right now covering the early Dodges and the 33 Dodge, plus one dealing with the 68-73 Furys. We have no plans to change the focus of the club.

We do publish tech questions for our members to repsond to. But as we are all volunteers it would be difficult to deal with narrow techincal questions on your 37 Chrysler which might not be of interest to others in the group. Just as you might not be interested in techincal questions on a 66 Dodge Charger. We try to put the questions out there with your address for others to repond to.

Write me direct and lets talk.
