Ok don’t shoot me, I’m just trying to hedge my odds a little and share a few places on here!

im in need of a speedometer and Choke  plate for the dash of my 1927 Buick STANDARD 27/27....

anyone have anything laying around they'd  be willing to part with?

i have beer money and will ship you a case or three of you fav adult beverage!!??  Flat tire Beer?

I found out (since I have didn’t seem to see the forest for all the trees!) that I actually have a master series choke plate and incorrect speedometer in the car, with the help of a friend it was brought to my attention!!  I’ve had the car a year and never even looked that close!!!

i am ashamed that I never even noticed!!!!

Pics for reference:

again I appreciate any help and assistance finding the needed parts!!

thanks

william

William:

I recently spent a week trying to get one of these AC units to function. They are the same for 1925 -1927 Standards.

Most are cracked and crumbling pot metal junk. 1900157050_DSCF7591(1024x768).thumb.jpg.a12e002d65c6ce224005ff5332085961.jpg

Hugh is working on a project to reproduce the most vulnerable component.

Three separate castings Some may be good and some are not.

I had to salvage parts from 3 to get mine to work at all.

This is the finished one now in my car. The only problem is that it is 13 MPH slow! At least the odometers work.

Bob's did have the choke plates in stainless but he is out of them.

Great info Sir, maybe I’ll hit the jackpot and find one Hershey this year!🤞🏼🤞🏼

Yeah me and everyone else looking for the same thing!  But who knows....

Why can’t anything be easy but still rewarding like mowing the grass or taking a shower, shave  and getting dressed!  Both are easy but rewarding.....👌🏼

I appreciate the info info and hope someone will see my posts and have one avail that’s they’d like to part with!

These statements sum up my experience as well.

There are still some speedometers out there, check Ebay.   To find one working is a crap shoot at best, although the majority of pot metal is junk, for some reason some parts survive.

After spending time driving the head on a lathe and adjusting the mph drum, I decided it was the best it would be, and it still reads about 4 mph slow.  Luckily with GPS and a speedometer phone app, I don't get stopped for speeding in the old Buick!

I’ve looked all over eBay and nothing popped up yet that’s any different than I have but I’ll keep checking.  As you mentioned even if I can get an intact correct unit that’s not working at least then I can dive into repairing it.

Just need to get my hands on the correct speedo first....a side benefit of adult ocd is I hyper focus on things and that one thing then becomes my priority so this time the correct Speedo gets the attention!
