My father told me when I was a wee lad that the question you ask frames the answer you get. If it is 1934 or newer, after you turn the key, or flip the ignition switch, step on the gas pedal, or jump the two terminals on the vacuum-operated device on the intake manifold in case the switch from the accelerator linkage is inoperable.
