Crazyfamily
Ok so I have a 27/27 Buick and need help identifying my serial on the engine. I have had several people at work look at it and we come up with differences of opinion on what it is.... Let me know now what you guys think, maybe with it being a 1927 Standard Model 27 that might help? I need to order gaskets and Bob’s needs the serial #. Any help is appreciated! I did play with the color and contrast to try to help identify the correct info!
RatFink255
I am seeing 948960. Try laying sheet of tracing paper over it and press using finger then lightly while still on number go over it with a pencil (not the point but the side). Looking again I see 3948960 Edited September 5, 2019 by RatFink255 (see edit history)
CarNucopia
Try taking a picture with the light source coming from the side, not from the camera. This should help the raised numbers be more visible.
Hubert_25-25
Consider doing a tracing with a thin piece of paper and a light touch with a pencil. The reflection is too much on the first numbers. Those are the important ones. It looks like 1948960.
MG1927
According to an old post I read on here the 1927 engines were numbered as follows, "Engine numbers for 1927 were in the range of 1627954 to 1978252". So the first number is 1. I believe Hugh has it right.
Crazyfamily
I ordered some gaskets from Olson’s and they didn’t need the numbers like I thought they would so I’ll do a “rubbing” of the plate next weekend as I’d like to know for sure what number it is for future reference! Thanks for the info and responses folks, I appreciate it! William
