1937 Buick engine & transmission value?

Recommended Posts

I would appreciate any thoughts as to the value of an original engine from a 1937 Buick Special.  I recently sold the car after owning it for 47 years, but kept the engine/transmission and accessories.  It has not run for 30 years but will turn over with a wrench.  I would sell it with the transmission or separately.  I had the crank turned, new main and rod bearings installed in 1971 and drove it less than 500 miles before parking it.  Any thoughts appreciated.

Thank you,

Z3Skybolt.

Skybolt,

Regardless of where the engine is located, you might be able to sell it to recover only the cost of the machine shop work done.

If you're lucky enough to find someone close to you who is restoring a 37 Special, you might get a bit more....

WHY would the car be sold without the original engine and transmission?

Maybe they swapped it out for a Toyota 2JZ engine and left the old engine behind.
