HUPP Factory bolt cutters

Going through my 1911 parts I see that most things use course threads not SAE fine, the spring U bolts have ad odd feature. Did Hupp out source them and the threaded shanks were too long or did the factory use a bolt cutter to upset the metal so no cotter pin was needed? I'll dress the ends so the nuts turns on easily and preserve the cut marks. Are these U bolts cut on other Model 20'S. Bob
