Dear Valued Customer,

Hemmings Auctions is now open for submissions. Since you're an active advertiser, we're giving you the option to upgrade to an auction listing at no cost! Our Listing Specialists are standing by, seeking out interesting, desirable cars that beg to be driven. Here’s what you need to know to submit your vehicle for consideration in our first auctions:

  • Listing fee is a no-risk $99.95; unsold vehicles will convert to Hemmings marketplace ads.
  • There is no charge to submit a vehicle for consideration.
  • Hemmings’ commission fees will be paid by the buyer.
  • Seller will have the option of setting a reserve price in consultation with a Listing Specialist.
  • Sellers will have the option of setting a reserve price.
  • The first Hemmings Auctions will go live in early August.

With the launch of Hemmings Auctions, we’re looking for auction-ready cars—and trucks, and motorcycles too—for real-world enthusiasts and collectors who enjoy their machines out on the road. So, if you have a no-excuses, ready-to-roll specialty vehicle, the kind that can start conversations and attract bidders, Hemmings Auctions is the place for you.

The Pursuit Is On!

Hemmings get a lot of ad dollars from auction houses. I can't imagine this will sit to kindly with them.

I'm not sure RM, Gooding, Bohams, Mecum, etc would care too much about the 10k auctions that BAT seems to specialize in.

But I agree that a lot of the content in Hemmings is either auction advertising or auction reporting.

The ad on the top if this site for me right now is for Hemmings Auctions.   Seems it will only help sell the cars that are listed there.

I'd think they care about the Ferrari that is currently at $475K with two weeks to go.

Or the Dino that sold for for $400K.

It seems they are limiting the auction listing to roadworthy vehicles.

If that is the case, they won’t have many advertisements from my experience!

So I have my Jeepster listed with them currently.

They are offering this upgrade at no cost to me.

My take is that if I make the reserve my firm asking price I have the possibility of coming out ahead.

I submitted for their review but no reply yet.

From the comparables I see I should raise my price.

So you submit for consideration like BAT's original business model.

I think current staff know a lot about 70s, 80s cars and imports, but prewar stuff I think is not a strength.  Not sure how evaluation process works.  If I understand it right you are competing for the opportunity to give them money on a yet to be proven platform.  Hmm...

Let's hope Hemming's comes up with a parts sale auction format that is better than ebays

Atleast a good stiff competition if nothing else so ebay would actually have to improve stuff instead of screw it up 4 times a year for the sake of change.

The other day I logged on to print shipping labels and got a whole new page.  I couldn't figure anything out except the link to get back to the "classic" page. I complained to the deaf complaint department, like I did for the sellers manage orders pages they just "improved". about 2 months ago,  which is missing crucial information I relied on to run my business that the old pages contained.  Lots of extra wasted white space so I get to scroll alot more.  That's the same with the new labels pages.  Everything is being set up so the 10 percent of purchases made from a mobil device will work better and the 90 percent of purchases made from a regular computer will suffer.  Good business strategy there.  You would think with a $1300-1400 monthly bill they would atleast give me 30 seconds of their time especially since my defect rate over a year and over 10,000 items listed/ sold is around .001%.  Seems once every year I get one idiot to screw it up.
