"Terraplane Hudson" in red, would have been 1937

"Hudson Terraplane" in blue, would have been 1938.

The Hudson company was in the process of phasing out the Terraplane nameplate (which may or may not have been a smart idea for a popular vehicle).  But because "Terraplane" had been a stand-alone name for several years, the Hudson company wanted to make sure the public understood the association between Terraplane and Hudson.  (That way, even if the Terraplane signs were gone from the dealership, when a satisfied Terraplane owner came back to buy a replacement, he'd know enough to visit his Hudson dealer to find the same basic car.

As to why it said Terraplane Hudson one year and Hudson Terraplane the other, that's anybody's guess.
