trini
Intermittent charging is an indication of problems inside the generator. It is best to remove from car and dismantle. Check over thoroughly, wash with varsol and blow dry. you may find it needs brushes and probably bearings and or bushings. Check for scuff marks on the pole pieces and armature. check for breaks on the field insulations. check comutater for pits and loose connections. Finally do not forget to polarise the field before starting car.
Summershandy
Thanks trini - I inspected the generator first off. Didn't even have to clean it. It's been starting and charging awesome since the new cables. When I think or hear the word 6 volt generator, the next thought is always "polarize".
