Pete Phillips
Anyone know if 1961 and 1962 full-size Buick hood hinges are the same? Apparently, 1963 ones are different. Have a friend looking for a set of '62 hinges and my favorite salvage yard has none, but they do have several 1961 full-size Buicks. The 55er
Not the same, 1961 and 1962 full-size car hood hinges have different part numbers.
drhach
You may want to cross them with Chevy units. There's a bit of Impala stuff that is very similar if not identical.
The 55er
Hood hinges for full size 1961-1962 Chevrolets are different part numbers than 1961-1962 Buicks as well.
drhach
That doesn't mean they won't work or even be identical. Visual inspection is the best way to tell. Part numbers can change based on visual changes with no change to fit form or function. Also, Buick and Chevrolet were different divisions, I would expect different part numbers. Part numbers are usually only one variable in the equation and aren't always the deciding factor on fitment.
The 55er
If you look at underhood pictures of full size 1962 Buick and Chevrolet cars for sale on the internet, the hood hinges are completely different.
Pete Phillips
Found and pulled a set of '62 Buick hood hinges at Browne & Sons Auto Salvage in Sunset, Texas. These things are huge! No wonder nothing else interchanges with them.
