Steves Buick
Hi guys, I just drove my 1932 96s for the first time since resto, runs great but at 55 mph the oild pressure dropped from 30 to 5 psi, no evidence of leaks, no knocking, now if I start it I have just 5 psi, any ideas before I drop the pan and check the screen? Thanks in advance. Steve
avgwarhawk
Can you confirm the oil pressure gauge is reading correctly?
Steves Buick
Thanks for the reply, yep I have a back up oil pressure gauge , although it T's into the original down at the block( same source)..it has been working fine, both did show 30 psi when running, now both dropped off to 4-5psi.
avgwarhawk
Rules that out. Oil pick up/screen in the pan perhaps is loose or off?

Steves Buick
Found the problem, A broken mailn pressure line, work hardened from the cotter pin on the piston rod retaining bolt hitting and taking a bite out of the line. Pressure Reg OK as was the screen, a bit gunky pan but thats it.. Any suggestions on a repair would be most appreciated.. Thanks, Steve
avgwarhawk
On my. That is revolting. I would think this item could be made with similar brass tube and T's. Or use steel lines an T's from the auto parts store. Need a tube bending kit. May be able to get the loaner kit from the parts store.
raydurr
I am almost positive that the broken pipe is soldered into the T. The flared part should be easy to duplicate as long as it is a standard size. Duplicate it and have the most qualified radiator or plumbing solder guy, solder it back together. Be prepared to re solder the other connections of the T as well. Cleaning and getting it oil free will be the largest task.
