smokuspollutus 1
Hi all, looking for an '82-'84 Riv T Type trans with the 3.36 final drive-this is for an Eldorado I'm working on. Anyone parting a Turbo car of those years? Alternatively I would be interested in the final drive unit alone. The '82-'84 T Type and Eldorado for the high altitude market were the only cars equipped with this axle. A 1985 T Type will not have this part. Thanks! Anthony
1965rivgs 780
Hi Anthony, Just curious about the `85 exclusion...did the `85 have a different final gear ratio? Tom Mooney
smokuspollutus 1
Hi Tom, the '85 switched to the 3.15 ratio found on all 4100 Eldorados. Not sure why, maybe cost savings?
1965rivgs 780
Hi Anthony, Very interesting...may I ask what the source of your info is? Factory lit, personal experience, etc..? I`d like to do some research on this, Thanks, Tom Mooney
smokuspollutus 1
Tom, the parts manual covering these years calls out the 3.36 for '82-'84, and the 3.15 for '85. Some further online researching confirmed this.

smokuspollutus 1
Still looking, and as an update it seems as though some '85 T-Types may have also had the 3.36 axle. Interested to hear if anyone has anything. Thanks
DAVES_BUICKS 136
I have a '85 "T" type Riviera (V-6 Turbo) that I bought new in August of '85. I checked the original build sheet and it shows code F57, 3:15 rear end ratio as standard.

I have another thread running for this part on the Turbo Buick forum as well, and someone with an '85 Turbo convertible messaged me back that his car has a 3.36, and sent a picture of his build sheet showing it. Very strange, maybe a convertible-specific thing? or perhaps an early model year build.

Finally getting around to researching this..apparently, on V6 turbo cars the 3:15 was the standard axle and the 3:36 was optional. Pics are from the specs in the `85 dealer album and Riviera wholesale Car Order Form...enjoy... Tom Mooney

RivNut 4,088
Am I reading these correctly? The ( ) seem to show a consistency between 3.36 and California.
