Color chase 1963 Riviera air cleaner cover

Recommended Posts

Gents, I’ve been chasing ways to get the “ right” color on the air cleaner cover. I’m as close as I’m going to get because the chase is over whether I have it or not. I’ve tried more times and long enough that it is time to give the color chase a final rest.

Looks good. I noticed your fan shroud is like mine. Don't see many like that.

Kevin, I thought the fan shroud on my 63  was different from the ones I’ve seen on Rivieras. For all I know my shroud probably came off a Pontiac. It works pretty good. Working on the AC tonight to get the R12 charged. I tried last night but the compressor clutch would not engage. I got something I’ll try to get the clutch moving.

Turb,

Your shroud looks like all of the other 63 - 65 shrouds that I've seen.

Amazing. Sometimes I don’t know if I’m  foot or horseback.

It looks like you are spot on for the crinkle finish and color. Great job!

Thank you very much for your sharp eye and positive support.

Gents, yet another attempt to achieve a good/acceptable color on my air cleaner. This color attempt is with powder coat. Powder coat seems more durable than some paints I have tried before.

The perfect is the enemy of the good.

When I finished the last coat on the air cleaner I said to myself, “ that’s as good as it gets for me.
