BBK
Hey, Because of corossion I want to replace the negative and positive battery cables. Does somebody know where the original negative connection is? At the moment I have two cables on the negative battery point, one goes to the chassis direct near the battery, the second goes to to a bolt of the aluminium case over the power steering where you also can adjust the belt tension. For me that looks serious. Is this the original point? Also I want to remove the backseat, somebody knows how to Remove it? Have a nice day. RivNut
The negative cable (needs to be the post closest to the fender. Look for previous threads) bolts to the back of the power steering bracket (steel.) Remove the rear seat by pushing the bottom of the bottom frame toward the back of the car. It will release from the floor board. From there it's just a matter of pulling it out.
BBK
Hey Riv Thanks for your answer. You mean like the negative connection shown on the picture attached? Somebody have an original factory picture?
RivNut
My bad. I didn't read in your title you're working on a 68. My reference was for a 63 - 65.
68RIVGS
The factory ground location on a '68 is exactly as shown in your photo Sebastian There should also be two copper braided ground wires bolted at the rear of each cylinder head, and fastened to the firewall with small self tapping bolts. The rear seat lower section can be removed as per Ed's instructions !
BBK
Nice thank you. Than I will replace only the old main cable. The 2 copper braided wire still exist but I will replace them also in the future.
