1927 standard piston removal

Recommended Posts

The big end of the connecting rod is larger than the cylinder bore, so the pistons have to be installed and removed from the bottom.  I installed mine with the cylinders and lower block assembled.  This was on my 1925 Buick standard which is the same set up as your car  Hugh

I've tried every way I can but with the counter weights on the crank there isn't enough clearance to get the piston past the crank. I can't believe that they would build it without some way of getting the pistons out without disassembling the cylinder from the block. I was hoping there was a trick to it.
