Recommended Posts

hello,i am hoping one can assist me in knowing if the front top of hood turn signal lights are an option ,as some 76 estate wagons have them,an some do not. I'm not sure if it is defined on the option list for the model year 1976 buick estate wagon.i am in the process of purchasing this model and year.i appreciate if anyone could shed light in this question,regards,lorne

You answered your own question, I believe. If some have them and some do not have them, they were an option.

Lorne, I think you are referring to the "lamp monitors"

on top of the front fenders.  They are not really turn-signal lights;

they work, I believe, using fiber optics, to show that the

headlights, bright headlights, and parking lights are operational.

Each of the little pods atop the fenders had 3 small lights to

indicate those three functions.

They were optional.

Hi Lorne and John. I have had these fiber optic monitors on some of my Cadillacs of the same period. The system also monitors all RED rear lighting. This function is visible on the inside rear view mirror.   -   Carl
