40 phaeton for sale MA. Not mine

Recommended Posts

The big dent in the rear fender and kind of tired top they aren't hiding would tell me there is more to tell.  I would guess a worn and barely intact interior,  Fair mechanicals and tired chrome.  Being a nice one can be bought for 40,000.  It's probably market priced and will sell for a few thousand less.  There is not as much interest in a 4 door convertible as a convertible coupe.

I imagine that some years ago that '40 would have been sought after as a clone of an automotive movie star, much like the "Rain Man" Buick or the "Christina" Plymouth.  After all, it was a '40 Buick convertible sedan that appeared with Bogart and Bergman in the foggy, final ("Here's looking at you, Kid") scene in the ultra-iconic 1942 movie "Casablanca."

(Vintage Buick, Bogart, and Bergman:  we'll never see their like again.)

The location map shows New Hampshire as the home. The car wouldn't have a title, buyer may not know that.

New York is like that.

Yeh NY didn’t issue titles until 1972. CT doesn’t for cars over 20 Years old. Mass wasn’t until 1980. So that’s probably why there’s a missing title. It never existed

Now that you mention it, the license plate on my '41 Cadillac reads PLAYSAM.  Sad to say, but most folks these days haven't a clue as to what it refers to.

Try running with this on your tailgate and see who honks and waves.

One guy said he'd shoot first and ask questions later.

A Canadian reference, Bernie. Canadians James Doohan and Bill Shatner would get it.
