Door latches

Anyone know if a 56 Chevy driver front latch will work on a 56 Buick special front driver door?? My latch is acting up and worn out..

I think that the striker is the same.

Last I looked, you can buy it new from Fusick. Unless that's changed, or you need the part that goes in the door, I would look there.

I need the part that goes into the door and besides the random now one popping up on eBay no one has it

Okay gotcha. The spring on my driver side door handle that actuates the mechanism broke, so if the handle is left up, sometimes my door doesn't latch all the way. Have you taken the door card off yet and checked to see if the linkage is possibly to blame? Those door strikers are pretty heavy duty.

Been a few years since I've had it off.. Try to not take it off due to age.. My spring is also broke but something is not catching right the what I'll call star wheel that makes contact with the striker will just free spin then you'll hear a click and it locks in place.. Plus that star wheel seems pretty worn.. Only does it if I'm opening from the outside.. If I open from the inside it's fine or if it's misbehaving and I give the inside handle a work out then it clicks and behaves
