Steve,

I recognize these as your cars, especially the convertible and the jet back.  What program are you using to do this?

Yes, they are all my cars and so I have all these photos I’ve taken of them - probably way too many of them - and now there are these new little apps for iPad and iPhone so I don’t have to use photoshop on a computer. It’s really kind of amazing what can quickly be done, compared to all the effort it took so many years ago, to produce an artsy rendition of Buick reality. The first several pictures are from a new iPad app called Painnt. Each picture was produced in less than a minute. Amazing and effortless!

As an example, here is one of my photos done up three different ways in Painnt in under 3 minutes

As a graphic designer professionally, I find most of these types of programs are bad, but try Prisma on your phone. You can tone it down to be more subtle.

I used Photoshop Elements to combine the black/white and color versions of this picture.

This is a similar effect using Color Effects on an iPhone. One starts with a gray tone version of a color photo and hand colors the desired portion (the car) back to its original (or a different) color. I think it was a free app.

Do cartoon drawings count as "Artsy Photos"?

I recently commissioned an English artist to create a cartoon version of The Aqua Zephyr.

I think his rendition came out pretty good! He only charged me $165 for two versions of this image. A white background JPG version and a transparent background PNG version.

This is the JPG version.
