emmd61
Finally getting around to replacing fuel pump on my 64 Riv. I loosened and moved belts and loosened and moved the generator or alternator. This car has AC. Should I remove the AC bracket or is it possible to remove the fuel pump without removing the AC support bracket? It looks to have tight access from underneath. Thanks---Arthur
DualQuadDave
You can do it without removing the bracket, but the hard part is putting the bolts back in and lining the pump when reinstalling with bracket in place. I have done it many times, just take your time with it.
1965rivgs
When you are removing the pump determine if there is pressure being placed on the fuel pump arm as you loosen the bolts. If there is, rotate the engine until the pressure is relieved. There is an eccentric on the nose of the cam which drives the fuel pump arm. Removal, and especially installation, will go much easier with this eccentric no longer placing pressure on the fuel pump arm. Tom Mooney
