James-B
Can anyone help. I have recently purchased an early Austin 7 and on the radiator there is a badge with " National First Prize 1983 Winner" from The AACA does anyone know who owned the car at that point or have any pictures. In 1988 the car was donated to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile museum by Thomas Lester. I would be very grateful for any information. Steve Moskowitz
The car was owned by a pretty well known person in the hobby. Richard K Carroll. He showed the car in Florida in 1983 and did not show it again. Quite a departure from all his Duesenbergs!
1937hd45
I wonder if that Austin has any connection to Dick Greene, who did a lot of the Rick Carroll restorations, his Mom had an Austin, may be the same car. If he did the restoration you have a fine car. Bob
James-B
Thank you Steve and Bob for you contributions. I see in a post in 2008 from Rickmd1 who worked for Dick Greene in the '80s so I have sent him a pm so I wait to hear from him. Is the Rick Carroll Collection still around or has it been split up now? Would there be any records of the collection anywhere?

The Rick Carroll Collection was auctioned off after his untimely passing in an Interstate crash in a modern daily driver. I have a catalog around some were. If I can find it I'll get back to you. Steve Moskowitz
Of course Bob is correct, we do have records of the many cars he showed at AACA meets which is how I found your car and the owner.
James-B
I don't suppose there are any pictures of the 1983 event?

Maybe there are pictures, though you also should be able on such as eBay to pick up the appropriate AACA publication of the "Antique Automobile" that features the event and award winners.
