Did 1930's Battery Cables have Manufacturers name stamped on

Recommended Posts

I just received a picture of an original 1931 Reo Royale battery cable with Reo stamped into the cable at the terminal connection .

Did other manufactures do that also ?

I thought they bought all the electrical from Delco , North East , etc .

The ground strap on my 31 Chevy has a bow tie logo on the terminal. Oddly it is on the bottom when the strap was installed.

Possibly REO above NE, suggesting NorthEast made the cable? By stamping it on the cable after the fact (rather than casting it on the terminal), universal cables could be stamped with any make.

Yes the bow tie was cast in on the 31 Chevy strap.

One more, I was cleaning out the trunk of my 39 Chevy and I found the original cable I took off many years ago. It is marked GM.
