31 Buick body tag info

Does anyone know why 1931 Buick body tag that shows the year and model then has "Mo   Day   Year" stamped on the same tag with no date information?  Did they stamp the build date on the firewall sheet metal below the tag?

It's not unusual to see the dates not filled in on the Buick tags.  I've seen more without the dates than with the dates on 31 31 Buicks.

Dave, 

     Look under the seats and inside the door panels etc.  You might get lucky and find an inspection paper or a parts tag that is dated.

These tags were blank when installed on the cowl at the factory.  The idea was that the DEALER was to stamp the date of sale to the customer for warranty purposes.  It was almost never stamped.

And the warranty, such as it was in those days, was usually 90 days/4,000 miles, so there wasn't a need for much recordkeeping.
