Glenn Manes
I am in search of a top bow saddle or rest for a 1913 Buick Model 25. These saddles were pretty common for cars and carriages from this era. I have seen many of these come up on EBay. Mine is about 3 1/2" in over all length, but the mounting hole is a 3/4" bore, and all I have seen have either 1/2 or 5/8 holes. Thanks for any leads, Glenn Manes BCA 40198 Wheat Ridge CO Edited February 3, 2019 by Glenn Manes misspell (see edit history)

dibarlaw
Glen: If there is enough stock can it be bored out to 3/4"? I know that you would need one in hand to decide. The Model T suppliers may also have one.
Larry Schramm
I checked Lang's for him and they only had 1/2" & 5/8". Did not look like there was enough material to bore out, but it could be worth a try.
Glenn Manes
Thanks Larry, From all I have seen it looks like the 1/2 and 5/8 use the same casting, the 5/8 just has a larger hole. I am not sure there is enough meat left after the 5/8 bore to go another 1/8". I will continue my search. Worse case I can learn to do some sand casting and try to make my own from the one I do have. Larry Schramm
You might try buying the 5/8" holder and weld some additional material to the bottom of the holder. Then bore a larger hole and metal finish it. Probably cheaper than trying to get some more cast. Just a thought.
JFranklin
That site had one with a 3/4 bore. It was only a bit different than the one you have shown. It might be perfect.

Glenn Manes
#18 has a 3/4" strap but only 1/2" mounting hole. But thanks again for the try. Glenn
Glenn Manes
OK, I bought one on EBay today that has the smaller hole. I will see if it can stand a larger bore once it arrives. Thanks to all for the help. Glenn
Glenn Manes
The saddle arrived this weekend and I was successful in enlarging the bore to 3/4" from 5/8". There was not a terrible amount of steel left at a couple of points but I think it will be fine. Glenn
