Hi Phil... Heres the best I can do on short notice, as I am conducting corona research..... The piece in question looks something like this.. you may have to adjust side notches to match wire thickness. Also the edge is flared to match the piece you have to prevent chafing on wires.. hope this helps.. John

My spark wire carrier was all dented up courtesy of the previous keeper (engine must've fallen over onto it) so I took it apart and beat on it with hammers.

 

Question for y'all, what shape should the lower part of the distributor lead-out there be? A mirrored curve or a flat piece? Mine is missing and I've no idea what it should look like to make another.

John is correct, these pics are from a 1950 Pontiac shop manual showing the piece in question is indeed the same curved shape as the top. The ignition wires lay in the there side by side.

That's all the existing sheet metal cleaned and painted.

 

Progress is good, even if it does mean I now have a headache.

Wires fit through and it's a good enough approximation.

All measured up and clamped in place. Just needs the distributor end of the wires doing now.

Fitted up for trial it looks good.

 

Does anybody have a spare oil cap they're willing to sell me? That one all dented up is getting to me.

It is the stock exhaust. However the muffler has a non-stock rusty hole in.

I took the passenger side tail lens off and put it to clean. It's very badly crazed.

Buzzed the surface down as smooth as I could get it with a worn out DA disc.

Started applying lacquer. It's going to take a number of coats to cover up the cracks. Still, that's drying so it'll get rubbed back and a second coat applied today.

For comparison the driver's side had a rub down and a coat reapplied to get rid of the orange peel. Hopefully once it's hard this side will polish up nicely. When fitted, I'm hoping they look like old red glass.

Second coat on passenger side; that will need to be wet flatted once dry to give the lacquer a chance to bridge the cracks.
