The piece in question looks something like this.. you may have to adjust side notches to match wire thickness. Buzzed the surface down as smooth as I could get it with a worn out DA disc. Started applying lacquer. It's going to take a number of coats to cover up the cracks. Hopefully once it's hard this side will polish up nicely. When fitted, I'm hoping they look like old red glass. A mixture of small heavy, wet coats then a draught of warm air from my heat gun set on low hopefully saw the last coat of red. PhilAndrews Posted April 1, 2020 Author Share Posted April 1, 2020 A quick test with a Ford Model A radio by Zenith, to prove the method. Bluetooth receiver card, with bypass relay built in. With nothing connected it functions as an AM radio. Connect a Bluetooth device and automatically it switches and you can then play music from the radio speaker using the original tube amp. So, I carefully stropped a blade very very sharp and had a go at removing the bad lacquer. Don't put your sound on unless you aren't bothered by nails-down-the-blackboard noises. Wiped down damp it looks okay now, apart from the different levels of fade, which I'm going to try remove with wet flatting, polish and then just keep the roof waxed.
