md murray
Was just reading how Rollston body company took in a number of people from Holbrook when they shut their doors in 1930. The story describes "super-salesman" manager Hjalmar Holm and eludes to a treasure trove of several Ruxton chassis being buried in his Hudson, NY backyard. Ruxton I think only made cars for a short stint in the late summer of 1930 before also closing. Does anybody know the story behind the leftover chassis and why they were buried? There's got to be a great story in here somewhere.
46 woodie
The "Bible" shows that Ruxton started production in June of 1930 after several prototypes were built. It listed at $3,195. It was a casualty of the depression. I can't imagine anything buried in Hudson, NY, could have survived in the rainy spring and snowy winters of upstate NY. It's anybody's guess why he buried the parts or even if he did at all.
md murray
Well according to coach built.com it's quite a story -would love to hear it if anyone knows anything. Wikipedia albeit an unreliable source says they only made Ruxton for like 4 months.
Spinneyhill
There was a topic here a year or two ago, quite long, discussing Ruxton and how many were made, when and so on.
