Mystery truck 1930s

Recommended Posts

Interesting truck. I can usually come close on trucks but two unusual features I see are the long narrow radiator badge and it looks like vent doors instead of louvers on the side of the  hood. I do not believe the radiator filler is outside either. I will be watching for someone to identify it also.

It looks english, but the headlights, front fenders and basic radiator shape are a bit like 29/30 Chev.

Bedford trucks were very similar to Chev but I'm not sure of the radiator script.

I think it's a Federal, built sometime between 1929-32, except I can't tell exactly what size it is. It's similar to this one:

I agree it could be a Federal. They were sold here in NZ, along with several other American makes - GMC, Reo, Republic, Stewart, Graham Brothers and Studebaker, among others.

There is a remarkable selection of survivors in the Richardson collection in Invercargill.  https://www.transportworld.co.nz/transport-world/#show/petrol-head/8
