Brooklyn Beer
Have a 49 Roadmaster I am going through and ironing out problems from a recent 12 volt conversion that the shop who did that is out of state has left me hanging in the wind. The conversion was done to get an alternator installed as well as for the vintage air AC. I live in TX and it can get hot. Looking over the AC install it seems they followed instructions to the letter. Extra pusher fan installed in front of evap coil, etc. BUT I am worried about not having a working temp gauge. Fuel gauge works, amp gauge works, temp gauge doesn't. Reading in shop manual that this gauge is not electrical but connected to a vapor bulb and tube assembly. I can see where this can get easy clogged as a mechanical gauge. Where is the location of this vapor bulb? How does one test it? What is the trouble shooting series in seeing which part is malfunctioning? And how accurate was this factory gauge or should I add an aftermarket gauge and if so, where is the best place to put it. Ben Bruce aka First Born
Passenger side , near the back of head. Should be a small tube going through a NUT into the bulb which is inside and held in place by thr NUT. This is a sealed system. Contains either I believe.
