1956 Accel. linkage wanted

Recommended Posts

Working on a 1956 Special. The ball and socket at the end of the accelerator pedal linkage is worn and keeps coming apart. Need a new one or something that works. Surely others have encountered and solved this problem?

Cut it off, thread it and buy one from the hardware store for a tight, brand new ball and socket.

Beemon, these are not as common as I thought. Been to three hardware stores today, and no luck. Not even at the giant Lowe's. May need to have you buy one and pay you for it! One more place to try tomorrow....

Pete, I have found them in the fastener section in the specialty drawers. Do you have an ACE hardware or equivalent? They are spendy, though, like heim joints.

Pete,

Look for this section of the hardware store. Big chains like Home Depot or Lowes probably won't have them or they'll be hard to find. That's why I suggested a smaller chain like ACE that have large dedicated fastener sections.
