Are you still looking for some of these caps, Jack? I may have some available that I am replacing these with. JACK M 941 Posted December 13, 2018 I appreciate the offer but as you know I sold my 31 and Craigs only has the two stock wheels in the side mounts. He may be interested in better ones. Kinda rough. and they don't match. I did stumble upon two of those wheels though if you can use them..
keiser31 2,306 Posted December 13, 2018 We may have to work a deal on the wheels. I don't need that kind with the lock ring, but I like to get stuff I can pass on to others.
JACK M 941 Posted December 13, 2018 Sounds like a deal. Will your old caps fit these wheels? And do they look any better than what we have? I have already found the Christmas present, but being that I seem to be the one chasing his parts, so..... Maybe a birthday. His bday I remember, May the fourth (be with you) You ever get up this way? Oh, I know of someone that makes the trip once in awhile.
keiser31 2,306 Posted December 13, 2018 Those look to be DG8 wheels, so the DH6 caps will probably be smaller in diameter.
ckowner 47 Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) Hi Jack Are those 18" wheels with a 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern? 6" hub cap hole? If so I would be interested. My 1930 DeSoto CK (CDN) has the same wheels. What do you want for them. Rick VanOene Surrey, BC Edited December 14, 2018 by ckowner (see edit history)
keiser31 2,306 Posted December 14, 2018 I also have been saving a decent set for my other '31 DB business coupe with wood wheels....
JACK M 941 Posted December 14, 2018 Yup From the DG8 6 inch cap hole. 18" 5 on 5 1/2 Rick, John tells me you should have these. Apparently I broke one of them down since the pics. Pretty rusty but I know guys have worked with worse. You can come and get them or I can bring them to Portland in April. Less than an hour into Oregon depending on traffic. Its forty miles to the Bridge.
ckowner 47 Posted December 14, 2018 Hi Jack i've been to the Portland swap meet once back in 1987 or 88. Semi retired now. Can you send me a PM with your info. My wife loves to travel, so we might make the trip earlier. Interestingly the Canadian DeSoto CK models had 18" wire wheels, 5 on 5 1/2 while the American cars had a 19" wheel 5 on 5 1/2. and 6 on 6" with 6 1?2" hub cap holes. My theory was that the Canadian roads were not as developed and a smaller tire added to lower gearing. You can see my car in the restoration forum. I have only ever found one car like mine and it is also a Canadian built but a rusted basket case being turned into a rod. Two serial numbers higher than mine. Registered as a 1931. looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards Rick ps: for anyone else interested, I have a complete set (6) of never used '29/30 6 1/2" "De" hubcaps for sale
30DodgePanel 152 Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) Just came up Ebay item # 254026087247 if anyone needs a nice set like these : No affiliation Maybe Jack would like to pass them along to the new owner ? (although I'm not sure if it's an 8...) Edited December 14, 2018 by 30DodgePanel (see edit history)
JACK M 941 Posted December 15, 2018 Yes, The 31 is a DG8, these are the caps that he has. The wheels in the side mounts are only for show, the wheels on the ground are modern aftermarket as is the suspension. Those are nice looking caps but must be for a different wheel. Yes, those DG8 caps with the red digits are for wood spoke wheels. Edited December 15, 2018 by keiser31 (see edit history)
knee-action 14 Posted December 16, 2018 What year did Dodge drop the word "Brothers" from their car and truck names?
Spinneyhill 940 Posted December 17, 2018 1930. And it was Chrysler, not Dodge Brothers, that did it! http://www.dodgebrothersclub.org/faq#

Spinneyhill is correct in saying that Chrysler changed the name since they had owned DB since 1928.
