Anyone Recognize this?

Someone I know came across this switch.  Any ideas as to what it does & what it comes from?

He said it was in a box with 30s - 40s Cadillac stuff but there were other random parts in the same box.

Hood release with safety catch.  Handle is behind grill.  Now you other guys pick the vehicle.

Good guess but I'm told by the guys on the CLC forum it is a Dirx light switch for a 1941 Caddy. Single year switch.

It sure doesn't look like any light switch I ever saw.  Learn something new every day.

Nope, me either.  That's why I posted the pix.  All I could think is it was some kind of actuator for a seat or a tailgate.

1938 Studebaker Commander and Coupé Express and 1939 Coupé Express had a lever switch of that operating method for the head lights. Here is one. The red arrows point to the headlight switch and the hand throttle (I can't remember which is which). They push and rotate down and back up.

I believe Tripwire is correct.  It’s a turn signal switch from a 1941 Cadillac.   They are self canceling.   That’s what that other arm is for.  1940 was the first year for turn signals in Cadillac, but they weren’t self cancelling that year.

I suggest there's just enough chrome handle showing to confirm in this '41 Cadillac image.
