Fitzo1969
I recently purchased the very first 63-65 gas tank available through Auto City Classic's. I picked up the tank, compared to the original, slid it up into position and everything seems to be a good match. Tank looks great and should be a perfect replacement. Again: Auto City Classics, ask for Mike. Thanks Fitz
Seafoam65
Great to hear they got them finished. Is it available in stainless steel like their other tanks?
Ray_Knott
Good to hear the tanks are now available. We passed on this information in the Riview last July, but a production date and price had not been announced. What is their asking price?
Ray_Knott
Just called Auto City, the tanks are not available for sale at this time. "Fitzo1969" was their test case. They expect delivery in late January and a price has not been determined, it will depend on the import tax.
Fitzo1969
Ray: sorry I am late getting back to you, but I see you contacted Auto City. Hopefully they will be in stock soon. Mike at Auto City has been great to deal with. Options like SS and Fuel injection flanges would be nice, perhaps they will accommodate. RockinRiviDad
James at BestOfferCounts (215) 767-0845, who has an ad in the back of the Riview, is a good contact for first gen Riv parts. He also had a fuel tank prototype made & will be making tanks available to us in Jan/Feb too. Tight race haha http://www.bestoffercounts.com/

I contacted him once about something (pedal pads, IIRC). He was evasive as to the origin. Which was of no help, as I was trying to determine if they were the same as other, sub-standard parts that I'd bought before. For what he was asking for the parts, it wasn't worth taking a chance. RockinRiviDad
Without taking this thread into left field, I’ve purchased tons of misc new/used pieces from James (including pedal pads) & all have met my expectations. I know, who am I right? no one…but James is easy to talk to, always responds to messages, parts shipped promptly & the guy even text messages. I love that…need a part? Text him & he replies haha I also like that, like a lot of you, he started his business by parting one car out from his house haha

jsgun
That's the one. Nice piece, appears CNC cut, with a custom bolt. The main body is considerably thicker than the stock part too. I felt the price is a little high, but it's a very nice piece and I appreciate that it's being made.
RivNut
I agree. It doesn't say in the description if the aluminum is cast or milled. Hopefully these parts will stand up to the test of time. Ed
jsgun
I'm working on mine right now, it's milled. Running into fit problems with the bolt, trying to find a solution. I'll put together a post on it once I have it sorted.

Thank you James James, You should contact Ray at the ROA. In the most recent issue of the Riview, which has just been mailed, Ray is still running an ad that says "they're coming soon."
Bestoffercounts
Yes that ad In the Riview about the tanks coming soon is from my competitor who also get the tanks made. I am going to change my ad in the Riview to state some of the newer items I am making now as well. I am working on 1961-1964 Fullsize Buick gas tanks as well. I am test fitting the samples this week. The 1961-1964 Fullszie tanks should be here the January 2020.
lrlforfun
OK James: Don't forget about me. The 1960 Buick tank is identical to the First-Gen Riv except for the angle of the filler neck. I'm gonna need a few of 'em sooner than later! Mitch
