Bill Stewart
someplace I read about redoing the crackly paint on 36 heaters but now can't find the info or the product. Can anybody help?
JFranklin
Buy a can of wrinkle finish paint and follow the label instructions carefully. I could only find it in black but after it dried I sprayed it the color I was after. Bill Stewart
Sounds perfect. Who knew it would be so obvious? Thanks.
BuicksBuicks
I've done a lot of wrinkle finishing. The item should first be placed in your kitchen oven and heated to around 120 degrees F. A heavy coat is necessary. After spraying put it back in the oven immediately to keep it in the 120-130 temp range. The item MUST remain within this range for at least 15 minutes and by then the wrinkle has maxed out. If you don't have wrinkle after 15 minutes, you've done something wrong. If you are going to paint it over with a color paint, give it a few days to out-gas before painting with your enamel or latex. After the heater is installed the first couple of uses will continue out-gassing and then stabilize.
