cahartley
This is a 1909 Studebaker surrey. Something must be missing on yours........lots of empty space between the seat that's there. I'm sure both of us scoured the web looking but I did not find a single image where the Studebaker name is stenciled on the front.
George Albright
Why doe the body have vents in the back like to cool an engine? George Albright
Hudsy Wudsy
I can't help but wonder if that seat wasn't moved reward a foot or more. Also my first thought upon seeing it was that it looked like a sleigh although I can't say why. Perhaps the high dashboard?
Paul Dobbin
Needs wide whitewalls, among other things, like an engine and drive line. If you put a horse in front of it to use as a carriage, it should wear spats.
wayne sheldon
One would need to look at it up close and personal. How the wood was cut, joints made, brackets used? From what I can tell from these pictures, I doubt that it is Studebaker at all. Probably something someone cobbled together for some unknown reason. The seat doesn't look to have Studebaker quality about it. The dashboard doesn't look properly done. I would guess the Studebaker name was painted onto it just for appearance's sake. Besides, if it was a hundred plus years old, I doubt the script would still look that good (although I have seen some very well kept and preserved carriages that were that nice after a hundred years, this doesn't look that well cared for). I suspect there probably are several parts of that that are early vintage pieces. Some of it may even be parts from an early gasoline carriage. That might explain the rear vented piece. George Albright I thought it was for the optional Amberola 30 sound system. Craig
