'62 Grand Prix Dash ?

Gentlemen,

A relative recalls his fathers 62 GP having 3 Chrome bezeled gauges located dead center on the dash that as well were biased to the driver. We then started to 'Google' things to find that air conditioned models had the vents located there but could not find a '62 with said gauges.  Further searches showed that the '63 in fact had the gauges in question. Is it possible that they were a mid year production change in preparation for 1963, or a an option offered in the '62 production year?

Any info would be deeply appreciated,

John C.

The 63 is the first year of the three gauge pod. The center dash section is made for either a block off plate, or car with A/C gets a vent duct and clock or cars without A/C can get the three pod gauge set that can come different ways like amp gauge, fuel, clock or...…. oil pressure, amp gauge, temp gauge and when this happens the speedometer and fuel gauge amp gauge cluster is different.

I have never seen a center section of a 62 have this, and having a 62 and a 63 this three pod set for the 63 wouldn't fit the 62. The 63 & 64 do interchange though.

Yup, 1963 and 1964 both used the design as described by Pfeil and Gary although the actual parts were changed slightly and not directly interchangeable.  A very attractive design with the three pods, Todd C

Especially if someone was carful enough when ordering their car to order the Amp, oil pressure, and Temperature gauge in the three pod set up.
