jeffery
how important is the runability of having a tailpipe ?
Guest
It keeps the carbon monoxide out from under your car. Without one, if you had a leak in the floor boards, you have a possibility of killing yourself and/or your passengers. The manufacturer didn't put them there for appearance sake. jeffery
I agree, I was wondering if or how it would affect how it ran. ,
Guest
No effect on how the engine would run. Probably you would hear more exhaust noise in the car itself. I wouldn't drive a vehicle without a tailpipe any further than the nearest exhaust/muffler shop.
jpage
Model A's make a lot of noise without the muffler and also a lot of exhaust fumes. The mufflers and tailpipes are 1 piece and not hard to install.
Dave Mellor NJ
It would be less back pressure. Racers have cutouts to dump the exhaust out the sides

jpage
Sounds like the carb may need adjusted. I assume that you know that the choke lever is also a carb adjustment and where to set your spark lever.
