carmover Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) Well folks, today is my Birthday and I thought the perfect present would be to get my 25 Buick nightmare over with.I went down to the shop after Church and got to work.It turned out that the problem was in the distributor.I filed the points a little and shortened Bob's condenser and reinstalled it and gave the valves a going over and also checked the firing order.I opened the carb needle one full turn and set the air even with the ratchet spring and got in and she started right up and ran perfectly smooth as silk Since the engine was rebuilt last fall I have never heard this car run this good.I ran the air on the carb out a couple of clicks at a time until the engine started to roll and the ran it back in until the engine was purring and happy.I appreciate everything all of you have done to help me over the last few months trying to sort everything out.Without all of the info and advise that I get off of this forum I would have never have figured it out.You Guys are the Best!! I am one Happy but older car guy today! Edited July 30, 2018 by carmover (see edit history) 5 1

Hubert_25-25 Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 Ron, Glad everything is going in your favor, and happy birthday. I found this from a 1916 Australian article about Buicks. Hopefully your Marvel carb is in tune. Hugh 1

Hugh Thanks Hugh, This is good information.I adjusted my carb according to the 25 Buick shop manual and it is running perfectly and starts as soon as you step on the start pedal with out even choking it.I haven;t driven it except out of the shop and back in yet but I plan on driving it tomorrow on a little shakedown run and check it out. This is the first time since I reinstalled the engine that it is running like a new engine should . 3

carmover Posted July 30, 2018 Author Posted July 30, 2018 (edited) The Shake down run went flawlessly. It maintained good oil pressure and the temperature stayed in a good range. It was about a 20 mile run with a lot of curves and hills and the car just ate the hills up and I didn't have to down shift on most of them.It was a real pleasure,I had no idea a 25 Buick had this much power back then.Larry and Hugh and the rest of you that are working on new engines for the 25 Buicks you are not going to believe how good they run.
