38Buick 80C Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 This is the 1960 Buick that paced the first World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Is it a LeSabre or an Invica? How can one tell the difference? I have a friend that is looking for one, any one have any leads? 1

38Buick 80C Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 found this and this http://oldcarmanualproject.com/brochures/Buick/1960/index.htm Seems like both had 3 portholes and aside from name badge on the fender and the wheel moldings the rest was not externally visually different. I upon zooming I do NOT see wheel moldings ( just the small guard on the front of the rear opening) and maybe the slightest hint of the LeSabre emblem under the "9" on the front fender. What do y'all think?
BUICK RACER Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Nope that doesn't work, was it a 2 seat or 3 seat, there's also a 1960 Buick group on Facebook, that's where the guru's hang out now.
JohnD1956 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 I thought the Invicta wagon had a stainless steel trim along the roof line just above the windows. Ran the length of the roof. Or was that the 59 wagon? 2

Ran the length of the roof. Or was that the 59 wagon? This was true for both 1959 and 1960. Here is a 1960 Invicta Estate Wagon. (This one happens to be an Invicta Custom with the leather bucket seat interior.) Note the bright stainless trim along the roof rail. 2 1
Smartin Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Who is to say that car wasn't stripped of all its bright moldings to be decorated like that? I think to positively ID that car, we would have to see a tag. Most others are easy to spot, though. The presence or absence of certain moldings will tell the story. 1
lrlforfun Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 (edited) OK Buick People: Definitely a Le Sabre wagon. All roof drip molding and door window post trim was optional on Le Sabre wagons. Invictas has standard roof trim, drip molding trim and door window post trim was optional. Electra wagons.......made ya look. haha Mitch BTW, We used Easy Off oven cleaner to remove the signage in the 60's. Edited July 30, 2018 by lrlforfun (see edit history) 2
Marty Roth Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Best way to be sure is by the Tag. Per Seventy Years of Buick: Invicta 3-seat wagon is Model 4645 - 3rd seat faced rearward Invicta 2-seat wagon is Model4635 Lesabre 3-seat wagon is Model 4445 - 3rd seat faced rearward Lesabre 2-seat wagon is Model 4435
38Buick 80C Posted August 1, 2018 Author Posted August 1, 2018 Just to be clear we have the one photo....that's it. 1 1
