Matt Miller
First time poster! I have a beautiful 1949 Buick Super sedan. Fireball straight 8...Dynaflow trans. It threw a rod and blew the motor. I haven't been able to find a replacement motor. Does anyone on here know if a 1936.. 233 will fit in my 1949?? Found one locally but not sure it will work. Any feed back will be great! thank you in advance. Matt Miller
pont35cpe
Welcome to the forum. Couple different things: `49(248) has side motor mounts, the 233 front engine mount plate is on the front of the engine. 248 has domed pistons, 233 has flat top pistons, 248 has approx. 25 more horsepower. 233 has no front or rear main seals. Dyn-flo crankshaft is not machined for pilot bearing, 233 is.

And more to above:---> No You need to find a 1948-1952 248/263 engine with side engine mounts. They are out there

DualQuadDave
Dont be afraid of seized blocks. Most can be taken apart and bored back to useable. PM me if you need help, I build a lot of antique motors.
Classic Buicks
Did you ever find an engine? We are selling one we believe to be from 1952. It is on Long Island. Please let me know if you have any interest. Thanks.
