1948 Ford car oil pan gasket

Recommended Posts

Is there a better rear oil pan gasket than the cork one? seems I read somebody makes a rope type gasket for rear of oil pan like the front one. Thanks

The rope seal was used in some of the 24 stud engines. It requires a crank shaft without the slinger and 2 pot metal pieces to hold the seal. You will still need the cork seal that goes in the rear main bearing cap.

A bit late I know but if you have the chance this is the BEST oil seal to fit in the front of a flathead engine.  Fitted properly ( look on U tube how to fit a flathead oil seal) they work better than any other type of seal.
